ODE TO 'ISADORA'
(To the picture postcard woman in KateA's avatar, previously subject of my At The Window.)
“Cheeky little number, baring her all,
Her butt to the camera, standing tall,
About to draw bedroom curtains apart,
No matter passers-by might call her ‘Tart’”
That might be the view of Mrs Grundy,
Seeing such things puritanically.
Male sexual impulse she may excite,
But I see her in philosophic light:
The confidence that she personifies,
In who she is, her own skin, shape, size,
The inner contentment she radiates
And a zest for life that she celebrates.
She is the woman she wanted to be;
She has arrived in her maturity.
It’s a picture that could be lovingly took
By lover who reads her like a book,
Who shares her life in great intimacy,
Allows her to grow and be free to be.
