Chronological Order

Sweet little girl only two,
Not knowing what they'll do,
Playing with her sister on the floor of the room,
Looking up at the sound of a door,
Smiling sweetly at those who enter,
He came to her and swept her in his arms,
Holding her close, she's not alarmed,
Tiny arms wrap his shoulders in trust,

Naive little girl of just five,
Change her name, they decide,
Chanting her new name with her sister age six,
Happiness in the future she predicts,

Little girl by seven knows pain and hurt,
Begs for love, knocked to the dirt,
Day and night, living in fear,
Knowing every minute, pain is near,
Poor little girl escapes the world,
And the life into which she was hurled,
Books of dreams, never real,
Hiding from the pain that she feels,

Sad little girl of maybe ten,
Holds her ground in the lion's den,
Fighting to protect her sister, now eleven,
As she promised she would, since she was seven,
Brave little girl learned not to cry,
Praying one day the monster would die,
Each harsh word and every blow,
Caused the little girl's anger to grow,

Little girl, now thirteen,
Turned into a troubled young teen,
Young of age, old of soul,
Seeking to fill the big gaping hole,
Studious of mind and yearning of heart,
Searching and seeking, with no where to start,
No one helped, no matter what she said,
The monster found out, and beat her red,
She withdrew further from the world,
Hatred and anger under her skin swirled,
Little by little she noticed she was different,
Emotions all out of wack, inconsistent,

The years swept by one by one,
Sense of self lost, gone,
Fifteen arrived, high school at last,
She never fit in, drifting from group to group,
Talking to few, following a never ending loop,
She found a best friend, fair of skin and eyes,
A girl she could never despise,
She found herself wanting more,
Into this girl, her heart she poured,
Fair skinned beauty overlooked it all,
To the boys she would call,

By age sixteen, the little girl was caged,
No outlet allowed, internally she raged,
Into a private school they forced her,
Hoping it would help them control her,
Her heart turned to stone, her soul ever in pain,
Delving into her studies just to stay sane,

Falling into a rhythmic schedule for the next three years,
Outwardly looking normal, internally flooded with tears,
Eighteen comes and she's ready to leave,
Packed all her things with relief,
Moving into the world all alone and scared,
No longer normal, her internal monster flared,
Ravaging her emotions, controlling her actions,
Damaging her relentlessly without satisfaction,

To this day the girl is unwell,
Personalities split, pain and fears dwell,
One day she hopes it will all go away,
But for now her illness will continue to stay.
