Metropolis

The snakes are coming for me

Coiling telecommunication wires wrapping around my sleeping legs

I try to escape my apartment without alerting sentinels

Making my attempt at an ungodly hour

When most would be spies are subdued by sleep

The doors and windows are too obvious

I take my Sawzall and gut my chosen wall

The Sheetrock spills out miles of electrical intestines

Sparks hissing in frustration

White tubes writhe from the pressure of venting heated air

The blistering craft work and extruding plumbing

Enclose me in a stifling daze of claustrophobia

The gears of civilization clicking into the puddle of my equilibrium

I lose footing and brace my self on the desk to the left of me

In the desperate grab of my descent i accidentally smash into keyboard buttons

This triggers the melting of my screen saver

The Computer screen comes to life in a yawning of fluorescent light

Silicon idol awakening to mock me

Shining rays of supremacy

In a near blinding dazzle upon this room heavy with darkness

The eye of my master scolding

Voltaic shepard ensnares me with mono-molecular whips

Chockes me out

Stroking this sheep back into sheets

There I wish to dream of running free

Barefoot through puddles

Into the natural embrace of an airy chaparral
