Failure
Failure is something that comes easy to me
It's the only part of my life that's remained.
I failed at being the child my parent's wanted
I failed at being a big sister to my siblings
I failed at being smart and good in school
I failed at being the athletic star
I failed society for being a lesbian
I failed at getting into college
I failed at not following my mom's footsteps
I failed at being a good single mom who doesn't struggle
I failed at being a good fiancé.
To those who suffer from my failure I'm sorry
These failures are what make me who I am
And failure is all around us so we're all failures too
But please remember no one's failure makes them
less than you.

I like this poem's message, which makes up its last verse. I thought recently, in response to a situation involving a family member, that it's okay to be a failure, but not okay to be ungrateful. Your narrator may be too hard on herself, but she doesn't come across as ungrateful, spoiled or stupid. Her voice emerges from what I suppose is a tortured and complex personality.
To make this more of a poem I'd suggest adding images, metaphors and other poetic techniques. As it is it's really more of a polemic, or perhaps a kind of fable, though I'm still glad I read it.
