Heart Shaped Balloon

i just wanted to see
what would happen
i meant no harm
that's a lie
i meant a little harm

it surprised me
how easily it slipped in
it seems there was no need
for force of entry
it just was

like an unlocked door
the hinge simply opened
so smoothly
without any sound
well, at least not at first

then only an incessant
whisper of air
it hovered restlessly
twisting and turning
skin wrinkling
diminishing
hissing
it plunged to the floor
squirming before me

the air completely
released
nothing more than
deflated rubber

the pin still clutched
in my hand
