Can't Walk By
A shop-front settler
and man's best friend
sit side by side
on the cobblestone highway
A dreary grey bites flesh
past brave face
where a somehow smile lies
More like sunshine
A battered cardboard square
homes thick red ink
writ as a humble wish
to keep on living
Injustice rains tears
and twinkling eyes shine
And the chime of metal on metal
is spare change begging changes
