Dust and Echoes
Sun's going down
Peeking behind the canyon
Shadows climbing and setting out
To swallow me whole
Think I've had my fill
Like a hungry dog feeding on scraps
Can't weather this anymore
About ready to go
I'll sit right here
Let the world pass me by
Maybe see a full moon coming up
The man is dead
My conscious wiped clean
Can't say I'm happy to see the light
It's been so long
Since I done the right thing
They say a man can't change himself
Repeating old routines
So set in my ways
That I don't feel right or wrong
Perception slipping away
Find it only fitting
I'll sit right here
Let the world pass me by
Maybe see a full moon coming up
The man is dead
My conscious wiped clean
Can't say I'm happy to see the light
They say with time
Our bodies grow white from age
Pale complexion is known
It's upon my face
I'm leaving either way
Been lying about it all this time
Lawman told me the road to redemption
Has no quarter to give
Peeking behind the canyon
Shadows climbing and setting out
To swallow me whole
Think I've had my fill
Like a hungry dog feeding on scraps
Can't weather this anymore
About ready to go
I'll sit right here
Let the world pass me by
Maybe see a full moon coming up
The man is dead
My conscious wiped clean
Can't say I'm happy to see the light
It's been so long
Since I done the right thing
They say a man can't change himself
Repeating old routines
So set in my ways
That I don't feel right or wrong
Perception slipping away
Find it only fitting
I'll sit right here
Let the world pass me by
Maybe see a full moon coming up
The man is dead
My conscious wiped clean
Can't say I'm happy to see the light
They say with time
Our bodies grow white from age
Pale complexion is known
