Change
I was innocent
Only a child
Blissfully ignorant
Running untamed and wild
I was carefree
Getting amusement from cheap thrills
Happy as any child could be
Running barefoot through the hills
But somewhere along the way, I changed
That blissful ignorance abandoned me
As my life was rearranged
And my eyes opened, allowing me to see
I witnessed violence, betrayal, and hatred
All things that as a child went unnoticed
And I learned to be careful where I tread
To hold those precious memories the closest
And now here I sit, eighteen years old
And nearly ready to fly on my own
I've gone so far, my dreams are almost mine to hold
Reality is no longer something I can postpone
Only a child
Blissfully ignorant
Running untamed and wild
I was carefree
Getting amusement from cheap thrills
Happy as any child could be
Running barefoot through the hills
But somewhere along the way, I changed
That blissful ignorance abandoned me
As my life was rearranged
And my eyes opened, allowing me to see
I witnessed violence, betrayal, and hatred
All things that as a child went unnoticed
And I learned to be careful where I tread
To hold those precious memories the closest
And now here I sit, eighteen years old
And nearly ready to fly on my own
I've gone so far, my dreams are almost mine to hold
Reality is no longer something I can postpone
