Blackbird In The Rain
From my window
Blackbirds playing in the rain
So wild, so carefree
At peace, the way the creator wanted them to be
So I rush from my chair
running through the door
Into the gentle rain
Crying, sobbing-not wanting this hurt anymore
I just want to feel
the freedom that they must feel
For that moment, carefree and fearless
Liberating and so surreal
as they frolic in the rain
wet and alive as can be
Wishing and praying
Little bird, please be me
My madonna, illness
My life, persecution
I wear in armour my souless smile
In hopes of a sobering solution
A cry from my soul,
noone seems to hear
An unbreakable image of strength
But no one feels my fears
And now they are but Angels around me
Death comes to them at last
To God their spirits commended
But upon my life darkness has been cast
Sheilded only by this skin..........
Now moistened by the rain
I'm pleading to be set free
Longing for happiness once again
Oh little blackbird, under God's rejuvinating rain
Longing, wanting, waiting, hoping it so
To be released from this ever blackening sadness
That no one seems to care or want to know
Creator, let me be
As a blackbird.....in the rain
Free.
