Soul Shine
Occasionally you feel pained and exhausted
Sometimes you seem unattractive
You may think you are unaccomplished
Do not hide
Parts that are broken
From fear of people
Who are incapable of enjoying
Less than perfect
Sunlight penetrates broken glass
Illuminating darkness beyond
Open the blinds, throw up the shades
And let your soul shine out

Soul can be wonderful when set free. I wish I could open a shop based on this theme, providing goods and services, hiring people, to enable the soul light to shine.
P.S. I had a crippling disease recently, and I had to deal with returning to work. I had the supervisors come visit me in rehab, and home, before going back. One of my challenges is what other people think when they see me. I needed to write this poem to help myself adjust to my new life. I've gotten quite a bit better, or the disease is in remission, but at least I can go to work and be seen by other people. Everyone judges me, but I try to take it as suggestions and encouragement and try to keep it positive.
