How To Save Lives Every Day

If you're wondering whatever it is you should do,  
Then wonder no more, there’s a purpose for you.    
‘Cause the answer to questions of what it all means,  
Is far from as hard as it frequently seems,  
It’s loving your neighbour as if they were you,  
And treating all people as you'd be done to.  
You don't have to engage in some deep sort of thought,  
In sum and in short, simply do what you ought.  
The things that you should - it's that simple you see,  
That's all there is to it, but don't take it from me,  
You can tell for yourself if you just start to do it,    
There's so much you'll achieve if you really pursue it.    
The more that you give then the more you'll receive,  
And the more that you help then the more you'll believe.    
But you won't just believe it, by golly you'll know it,      
You'll find it's a fact and the data will show it:    
The more that you help the less fortunate out,    
The less you'll be likely to have any doubt.  
 
Sometimes people say there's not much we can do,  
But there's nothing so flagrantly false and untrue,  
There's always so many good deeds you could do,  
So don't stop at one, or conclude after two,  
There are lots you can do, many more than a few,  
Good causes galore you could choose to pursue.  
The world can be changed by a person like you,    
There's no telling what you might be able to do,    
You might be the person who saves someone's skin,  
And prevents them from meeting a fate that is grim,  
Or someone who helps someone else to pull through,    
All merely by doing as you'd be done to.  
 
Somewhere there are people whose lives are at stake,    
So we have to think hard about choices we make.    
Somewhere they’ll be going through lots of bad stuff,    
Every day of their lives they’ll be doing it tough.    
And they all are our neighbours, wherever they are,  
Everyone is connected, no matter how far,    
There’s a duty to help them as much as we can,  
We must to our best to get them out of their jam.  
After all that’s the choice that we’d want them to choose,  
If we were the people who walked in their shoes.    
   
Why waste all your money on doing some hobby,  
When you could be using it for saving somebody?  
Don't waste all your money on things that don't count,  
Every dollar you give is a vital amount.  
The more that you earn and the less that you spend,  
The more are the people you'll help in the end.  
There are plenty of things you can do with your quids,    
Like funding vaccines to help thousands of kids,  
Or building some wells to provide some clean water,  
We’ll save many lives if we do what we oughta.  
Just think of the thousands who you could assist,  
Throughout your whole life if you only persist,  
Imagine the size of the good you could do,    
By continually doing as you’d be done to.        
 
The world's full of bulldust, but don't be side-tracked,  
Don't let it distract you from how you should act,    
Don't follow the crowd or be swayed by some fashion,  
Do not be diverted from displaying compassion.  
And with all of your heart and your mind and your strengths,  
Strive to help others, and to go to great lengths,    
To make the world better for having been in it,  
To love every day and to help without limit.  
 
The world can be changed, it’s as easy as pie,  
By people like you and by people like I,  
There are lives to be saved and good deeds to do,  
And people all over the planet need you.    
I can tell you'll be swell, much greater than great,  
Now’s the time to get started, there is no need to wait,    
It's never too soon and it's never too late,  
For kindness is timeless whatever the date.    
And once you get started, there'll be no stopping you,  
From taking the actions that you ought to do.
