Oh well, a shrug of the
shoulders, a little regret...
maybe more than a little,
and yet...
nicely done...

Thank you so much, Lena! Thrilled about your lovely answer! I'm happy you mentioned the double entendre so I can be sure that at least the meaning could be caught if wanted :-). xx

Glad that you enjoyed the poem, xmar82 :-). Unfortunately it was not meant as a compliment but I don't mind if you take it as one :-). Thank you so much!

Glad that you love the double meaning, Gabriel. In the meantime I wasn't sure if I was able to convey what I meant! Thanks for your lovely comment!

Re: Oh, well ... - Senryu
The 'lip service' could have many meanings (at least three to my mind, two erotic). The poem could be construed as either compliment or criticism (depending on the kind of lip service talked about).
Could have been the words of the woman in my poem The Towel speaking about the man (who showed lip service of a kind in verse two of my poem and some dexterity in verse three).

So I've learned through your comment(s) on my poem much more about the concept 'lip service'. I'm grateful for that and will pay more attention to the various possibilities to certain terms :-). Thank you very much, Solomon, for your great comment!

Sure, John. Using words only I'm no violent person at all! Only kick and box during training lessons :-). Words are a poet's tools! Although I wouldn't want to be so arrogant as to call myself a poet in the classical sense :-).
Re: Oh, well ... - Senryu
Thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts about the term 'lip service'! It was entertaining and informative! I learned something new of which I'm grateful :-). Indeed. In deed.

Oh, that is priceless! Lip service in my book means a lot of blah blah, not enough cha cha.

Lip service in my book means promising much, keeping nothing :-). But blah blah and cha cha captures it well :-). Thanks a lot Tristique!

Thank you so much, Jude Hurst :-). I'm a haiku aficionado for this very reason. Glad you like it!
