Whispers

She walks alone in the snow
He walks alone in her shadow

She does not stop him
he didn’t beg
she did not lead
they don’t pretend

She pulls in her breath deeply
pushing her feelings aside completely
adjusting her dress ever so
neatly…

He staggers forward
She leans back
He clutches his heart
She touches hers

He whispers goodbye
She whispers
please die ...
