Among The Leaves
That day I saw her body
laying dead among some leaves
so weird to see this woman
who looks a lot like me.
I closed my eyes then rubbed them
I was sure this wasn't real
I then reached out to touch her
her pain has never healed.
I saw into her anguished eyes
she wanted me to see,
the brutal way he took her life
right there in front of me.
I heard the cold wind moaning
as I fell upon those leaves,
I had fallen down beside her
screaming bizarre obscenities.
~~~~~~
A quiet man he stumbles
then gets back up on his feet
he begins his daily walk
down a crowded lonely street
Clad in his broken work boots
and a pair of filthy jeans
a smelly shirt, a dusty hat
he conjures endlessly
He thinks about the day ahead
and the task he must complete,
he knows that time is running out
he must remain discreet
~~~~~
On the ground I backed away
I did not want to know,
where this woman came from
but knew I had to go
I saw him from a distance
but approaching nonetheless,
I had to leave just disappear
I knew I could be next
that man he did not see me
hidden behind a hallowed tree,
he hurried through some mossy grass
then upon those
So there he was
and there I stood,
I went insane
he knew I would
out came my gun
one to his head,
then two more shots
now she lays dead
If I wasn't there to see it
I would never have believed,
he knew right where to find me
