family

I listen to them fight
About coffee
And think about how petty
The world is
We are the discordant symphany
Of people who don't know
How to get along
Righteousness apparently
More important than happiness
As though any of us
Happen to know
What happiness is
Our spirits so blunted
By human monotony
We self-destruct at the first sign
Of joy
