Poem Title
I paid attention at the grave today,
and like the tree that has fallen over,
I leaned my ear in to your hearsay.
The yellow of the flowers paid no heed.
The tree peaked over my shoulder to see.
I paid attention at your grave today.
You didn't try to comfort me,
but you seemed to simply stare,
as sunflowers follow the sun's glare,
in greater knowledge than I could bear.
And farewell is what my lips moved like,
like two worms traveling up and down-
and heaven is what that tree looked like,
with grapefruit flowers all around.
and like the tree that has fallen over,
I leaned my ear in to your hearsay.
The yellow of the flowers paid no heed.
The tree peaked over my shoulder to see.
I paid attention at your grave today.
You didn't try to comfort me,
but you seemed to simply stare,
as sunflowers follow the sun's glare,
in greater knowledge than I could bear.
And farewell is what my lips moved like,
like two worms traveling up and down-
and heaven is what that tree looked like,
with grapefruit flowers all around.
