A Glance At Tomorrow

A glance at tomorrow,
judged by today,
may ease discontent
when my mind is astray.
Will it meet my desires
of all it should be?
Will I be overwhelmed
with serendipity?
Will I go somewhere then
that I'll wish I had not?
Will its color then cover up
yesterday's blot?
The encounters of today,
will tomorrow discard?
The things that I dream,
will tomorrow afford?
Will I tangle desires
in Impossible's threads,
to be disappointed
at matters ahead?
Will I witness tomorrow
a surprising fate?
Will tomorrow be worth
all the wait?
No need I return
to yesterday's course,
to the people I neglected
and the things I endorsed.
No need to relive
what pleasures did pass,
to the memories of love
do I now hold fast.
What pain gripped my heart
when my feet were misled,
tried only to kill me,
but strengthened instead.
My vision has changed
with perspective anew,
for where pleasure failed to get me,
pain pushed me through.
Will tomorrow prove worthy
when today is adjourned?
My valedictory, this day,
lesson learned.
A glance at tomorrow
will, my wonder, appease,
but today is a gift
sufficient to seize.
