she claims to have sired me
but for me I never desired
she found me native
yet still creative
she called me black as my land
but still held my hand
her ways were white
I wondered if she had the light
my fertile lands were taken
I was left barren
she also had a gun
that made all of us run
our mouths were shut
only torture we could attract
my values
my language
my food
my lifestyle
so sad to have lost
I even lost touch with my Higher Man
because her God, I was forced to call
I had to shave my afro trademark
to appear in her records
uncivilised civilian
she calls me!
my history is burning
and my blood is crying.
I want to be who I am
and what I am
but for me I never desired
she found me native
yet still creative
she called me black as my land
but still held my hand
her ways were white
I wondered if she had the light
my fertile lands were taken
I was left barren
she also had a gun
that made all of us run
our mouths were shut
only torture we could attract
my values
my language
my food
my lifestyle
so sad to have lost
I even lost touch with my Higher Man
because her God, I was forced to call
I had to shave my afro trademark
to appear in her records
uncivilised civilian
she calls me!
my history is burning
and my blood is crying.
I want to be who I am
and what I am
