Death by Love

Walking down the hall one day
and what does she see?
Him kissing another girl
so passionately
It breaks her heart
Shattering it completely

She’s frozen in that spot
as it replays before her eyes
Remembering the looks on those faces
When she used to have been in that girls’ place
She had that same blush
That same flush
When he kissed her own lips
With that same such heated hastiness

She drops her things
And falls to the ground
Both hands clutched around her heart
Eyes wide and tearing
mouth gaping without a sound
Watching the man she deeply loves
Holding the arms of another
moving to that girl
To replace her as his new lover

The pain in her chest
Strikes as she claws
As the scene claws at her heart
Clawing, clawing, ripping her apart
From the inside out
To the outside in
When she remembers that same touch
Upon her skin
When the moments he claimed her
As his own
Over and over again
From the moments he felt her love
When she let him in

She felt the tears
Flowing from her eyes
As these memories flash
bringing pain as they goes by
Of the first time they met
Of the first time she made him smile
Their first kiss
Filled with bliss
Of his hands on her hips
As they made a rhythm of their own
Connecting body and soul

She remembers the times
he made her cry
Of how he broke her heart
time after time
Yet coming back
And she’d push it all aside
Just to be in his embrace
to be by his side

She remembers their secret moments of passion
Hands moving with such haste
Of love bruised, crushing lips
Claiming her as his
And of that night
Of the arguing
Of the tears
She cried every night
to her best friend’s ears
That’s when she broke
and left for another
Unable to sort how she felt
for one or the other
Confused and pained
a part of her was missing
Since that day,
She felt empty, unwhole
With him she left part of her soul

Yet she still felt that passion,
As did he
So together they made a system
Where their passion could burn together
once more, freely
And after a while
She knew it wasn’t just lust
That what she felt for him went deeper
He had her trust
Her heart in his clutch

It was his
As she was
And she didn’t complain
It was what she wanted
To be his,
and he be hers the same
Though now it seems
She may have been a little too late
She sees she has little claim over his heart
most had wondered away

But she still holds on
She can’t let him go
She can’t numb how she feels
of her pain from holding on
Watching him check out girls in heels
Of the love she has for him

Then once again she’s brought back
to the scene before her eyes
Feeling pure hopelessness
That he’ll never be her guy

At  that moment, he turns and looks
His eyes meet hers
He now sees her tears
now seeing the pain and hurt
He caused her over that year
And he sees now
That she loved him through it all
How she always stayed
Waiting for him there

When his eyes met hers
it became too much to bear
She felt her heart burst
Crying out a curse
Clutching harder
Her face shielded by her hair
She feels herself slowly moving
Everything going hazy
Watching his once lustful look turn to fear
Leaving the girl he held near
to run to the one he holds dear
And holds her in his arms once again

As her pain, her sorrow, her heartache
all vanish
left only with the love for him
come back once again
But this time he was too late
Trying to reclaim her love
In the moment she finally had to let go
Of her feelings
Of her hope
Of him
