Hitching

Entered in the comp. Crazy

It was twenty two years ago
we were young wild and crazy
it was New Years Eve upstate
New York snowing like hell
A few beers in and we thought
Florida sounded like a great idea
so we started walking to the highway
What the fuck were we thinking
it was obvious we weren't thinking
at all
We walked for what seemed like
forever sticking our thumbs out
to every passing car just two
chicks on a mission
A semi stopped and we climbed
in like we were waiting for it
all night
That 18 wheeler got us to the end
of PA and we hitched a ride back
to our hometown realizing Florida
wasn't the place to be beer and
ideas don't go well together
Now I watch you slowly deteriorate
everyday dying your slow painful
death with that alive, young twinkle
in your eye as you tell our hitching
story for maybe the last time
They called us crazy we call it
adventurous and when we meet in
the sky we'll be hitching again
