I liked how you used 'bridging', with that word somehow it doesn't seem like such a sad reality even if it may be for some.

Yes, it's never quite imperilous to teeter on the brink of the abyss, all the more when you suffer from acrophobia (I mean, a rainbow IS high above), sadly. But your comment, of which I'm thankful, is dead-on. The view, however, might compensate for a possible plunge and a hard landing :-).
