Dying day
He is lying there
His last days are dawning
Time flys
It's almost a new morning
His eyes have dried
He can't can't cry no more
His healthy body
And healthy mind
Are being taken
To short a time
He's not sure how he got where he did
And he's riddled with illness
No immunity to it
He watches his loved ones go through the motion
Their counting his days
As he watches them closing
He sees their tired
Recognises the strain
He is helpless
In regards of their pain
He looks at their smiles
Hard to put on their face
But he sees the love there
It could never be replaced
He looks at his child
He looks down at his son
And he knows that in his life
It's the one thing he won
Imagines his son on his wedding day
Imagines the features of his future grandsons face
And try's to reason
Why he has to leave this place
There's no strength to fight
Trust me he tried
He would have never given up
But the illness was to strong
And wouldn't subside
And on his last day
He felt better than ever
Kissed his wife
And said I'll live you forever
The surprise on her face
At his strength on this day
Put his son beside him
And told him home truths
Watched them walk out for the last time of
His hospital room
Then he called the nurse
To open his blinds
Let the sun shine upon him
Light filled the room
And kissed to his lips a smile
As he finally closed his eyes
His last days are dawning
Time flys
It's almost a new morning
His eyes have dried
He can't can't cry no more
His healthy body
And healthy mind
