The truth about being a teenager: it’s not all great. (An article i wrote for English)
Terrible, troublesome, teenagers, it’s a saying that is used commonly amongst people, but is it always true?
Through my experience so far of being a teenager i have come across bad points and good points. School in particular can be a struggle, you get mocked, targeted and pushed about like a tatty old rag doll that’s just been found in a worn out toy box. But this is just a person’s view, yes you might be thinking well, i don’t see myself that way and that’s true you can be happy and content being an individual but people now a day’s don’t seem to care about your feelings, its blasphemy.
A person who seems subdued and content in there study’s could be hiding a lot behind there mask, you can never tell what a person feels deep down in the core of things and this to me seems a little scary. People are too pressured these days, if it’s not stick thin models lining the catwalks its peer pressure drowning you in a pool of self confidence issues, make up products and technology that can cause and put a person in deep risk and danger.
I’m sick of walking by people saying complete rubbish to others like “Your too fat” , “Not pretty enough” , “Wow your an emo, that’s not good” well i can tell you now no vampire stake and crosses are going to hold me back. I like many other people are individuals and very proud to be. In my case and opinion people need to be straightened out, punished for their wrong doings and learn some respect.
Job done! That’s all it needs a person with a strong back bone and a will to correct the rights and wrongs that happen in todays in society. Apart from this it can be a very nerve – racking time for ‘teens’ as they prepare for their GCSE exams that will decide their future.
But moving on from the bad and to the good. Being a teenager you can Rome free with your friends and just be happy. This is a free time for you to not have to have a responsibly as such, meaning financially, but that doesn’t mean go mad. I believe to respect what your parents do for you and be thankful, remember money is just a number, love for your family and friends is a much greater thing that cannot be bought.
Be who you are and not what a magazine or anybody else tells you to be, you are your own person, and flaunt it with everything you’ve got. Stick on your war paint and go out in battle to stay true to yourself and not be side-lined by other people.
Don’t rush in to things too fast but certainly try to have as much fun and laughter as you can possibly squeeze out if this time. Just smile and don’t let anybody take you down with them, and if they try kick and scream as much as you can to break free.
