Barbed Wire

Written by: Tinthedark

Lives intertwined, like barbed wire.
The secrets we keep,
Are the barbs that puncture.
Skin and flesh,
Tangled and torn,
Bloodied and weak, we hang on.
Punctured.
No longer crossing the boundries.

Still, we are intertwined.
Bound by sacrifice and obligation.

Almost willing to cross the line,
Forego the torture that is sure to follow.
Cold, blood soaked and naked,
I ran.
Watched you diminish behind me.
Smiling at my departure.

Still, we are intertwined.
Bound by sacrifice and obligation.

Conclusions start at the beginning.
Death begins at birth.
We hang on,
Desprately clinging,
To a fantasy.
Never to be seen,
Touched,
Or realized.

Still, we are intertwined.
Bound by sacrifice and obligation.

Our conclusion starts now.
With words spoken,
Aimed like bolts that puncture my heart.
Now that I'm bruised and broken,
Turn away,
Don't watch me break.

Still, we are intertwined.
Bound by sacrifice and obligation.
