Cigarettes and Joints
Cigarettes are like shadows
They're always there
Like friends
or almost..
They're there when you wake up,
and for the rest of the day.
Almost like joints
MJ opens up your mind and eyes, but
a million cigarettes won't change the way we feel.
And still, we smoke cigarettes
Because they're always there

Hey thanks..I actually totally dig your poems and style. I'm here because I read one of your poems and decided that poetry is an great way to express thoughts and feelings. And one of your poems just captured me, so thanks again.

very well put. pithy and to the point. I once heard a friend in despair accuse another friend that they "treat their friends like a pack of cigarettes." ..something to lean against momentarily, but in the end, disposable.
