Symbol
A symbol is
dangerous. Appealing?
Yes. Needed? Yes.
Being extricated? Maybe.
Yet, they are ruthless,
ignoring the present,
abdicating convention,
disregarding common (that
is, superior) defenses,
obligations, the stuff of
normal living. Is there a
"perfect" symbol, remarkably,
incompatibly passionate? Perhaps:
the symbol of instabilities, of
human potentiality.

Symbols, yes, there are many for all kinds of things but does it measure anything?

I especially like "leaving room for thoughts." To me, symbols are inexhaustible, while "facts" are one-dimensional, although usually connective. Thank you for your thoughtful comments (as always).

it's what your mind sees in the symbol, that makes the symbol universal, symbols the first language it all comes back to symbols :)

You are correct, nikkimoe. To put it crudely, symbols are "universal," as you say. Facts are particular. Thus, no matter how many facts one has it never becomes symbolic. Early humanoids had deep symbols (of the hunt, cooperation, life, interrelationships, the Hunter-Herald, and so on.) They can be seen in caves in France, Spain and many other countries. I think we take many rather complicated facts today, like Professional Football (which I like), and try to make them symbolic: (the fight/flight to the Superbowl), etc. Thanks for your "precious" comments.
