Waking Up
woken up in the mid of day
by words uttered
so long ago, today
meant to be forever
just a word, a hint
a whole story unfold
on the silver screen
stage of life, in my mind
was it the bloom
of the white roses
against concrete walls
the banana peel on the grass
no matter it slipped
out of the darkest recess
of suppressed memories
a promise once made
it is no longer who was
but someone who is
same words uttered
from different lips
so here I go again
walking down memory lane
superimposed faces
playing in my mind eye
the long winding road
may soon end
leading down a country lane
where hearts and souls reside
But today I woke up
to a memory of when
Scaring me to think
of my journey's end.
