The Tribute
I will fake a smile for the sake of Kyle,
The guy who kept me sane through all the joy and all the pain,
And laugh a hollow laugh at December as I try so fricking hard not to remember
All of the little moments I once thought we had, the good, the ugly, and the ones gone so very bad.
I lost a lot of friends along this road, but what's gone is gone, so
I'll waste another day just thinking of what may
Have been the start of a forever full of "I wish I had never"'s,
And break another heart with my hollowed out false love, while I reminisce on what is, what will be and what was.
I'll cry over spilt milk if I want to, because it's my pity party and it's not like you're having fun too,
So take a seat and let it pour, let the drops fall, let out all the sympathetic pain, let go of it all.
Tears replace the coldest of rains on this sunshiny sacred day,
But we can't change the weather so let the tears fall slow like a feather.
Let the glass hearts break behind smiles so fake
That you can't have the heart to see through it, even though you're dying to say screw it,
And that you don't love me anymore, because I've crossed another line, closed another door,
But it's broke and one day I'll fix it, it's another bad habit of mine but one day I'll lick it.
Just know that I thank you for being there when no one else seemed to care.
