I Miss that Friend of Mine
I pass through a door
a small, red door
the room is dark
I cannot make out anything around me
I hear a voice saying, "open it"
I feel hesitant
but I open it anyway
I'm suddenly outside
It's warm and sunny
I feel a warm breeze
I can smell fresh flowers
I can hear the birds
I hear the trees rustle as the wind blows through them
Beyond me, I hear echoes of small children laughing
I hear adults talking
I hear dogs barking
I walk closer
I hear a voice saying, "speak with me"
It's too bright to see anything...

Have you heard from him?
They say it takes a little while
but I've been waiting what seems to be a lifetime
I feel that I've gotten nowhere
is waiting punishment for a crime?
I see "him" in my dreams
but when I wake up, "he's" not there
I try to take my mind off of ''him''
but I know deep down that I care
I'm almost twenty-one years old
I've never experienced love
maybe it's not meant to be
sometimes I want to give up
but I've been waiting what seems to be a lifetime

You've got a soul like no one I know
the way you make me feel drives me crazy
I can't always tell what you're thinking
and I know you know this
I think you like the danger
or the mystery of it all
I can't help but to feel that we are both slipping away
please don't go
it's this way I wish it weren't
because when we're together it feels like a new fire everytime
you've got it
and I want it
I'd like to say I won't wait forever
but thinking of you doesn't feel like forever
I just wish you could see how much I care for you

You're Just Like a Dream
Unlike thoughts of blue
and fields of lavender
the sweet whispers of yellow
carries the the warmth of you
Without the fight of green
and the confusion of magenta
the lingering touch of teal
shields what should not be seen
Like the thoughts of blue

the harsh words of yellow
carries the anger of you
With the fights of green
and the understanding of magenta
the fading touch of teal
shows what should be seen

Just like what you used to say
The wonder years have gone
And you long for the lost day
Prison sentences kept us apart
Just like they said it would
Mom said you were coming back
But those words never did any good
I'm not a child anymore, dad
You haven't seen me since I was three
You've changed a lot since '99
And I bet you don't remember me
I do miss being young
Not being exposed to the bad
I miss having a family
And I miss you the most, dad
After you got out, you went with another...

The Cold Sun
I remember a time, when I felt no warmth
when loneliness tickled at my ear, begging me to follow him into eternity;
I remember when I felt no happiness--when I couldn't force a smile.
I remember when I pondered death, and if even the thought of immortality crossed my mind, I was quick to laugh at it.
I remember when I loathed in my self-pity.
The days when all I wanted was someone to talk to me, and tell me that everything would be okay.
I've learned to rely on myself.
I've learned to not let myself be scratched by death's long, sharp nails.
I've learned to not...

Whispering Silver
Cold hands grasp a warm surface and
Bitterness retreats into the subconscious while those hands
Sprinkle arson into the veins of truth while
The spring continues to elude our winter's end;
It's possible to guess on a whim
That sustained energy might lose its power.

Been several years since the inception of my lyrics
I can't remember when I sold the rights of passage;
carefully placed lies sprinkle the air and diminish
Clarity comes in the form of a dream that is massive
being young comes from experience
I feel my soul growing old and my connection to the world strengthen

Gold dollars making bank with the outlandish group
We stood by the overpass making rhymes
We didn't know we were all living lies
Go home to mom and dad with a smile
They know what we did but didn't care all the while
We watched each other get punched in the face
And laughed when we saw blood and wondered how it would taste
Little fake thoughts taking us high
With the great records of love and a great time
Superficial administrators tried to stop us
So we gathered two hundred dollars and hitched a...
