The Keys
The keys to my heart
Thrown in the abyss
Left discarded.
Pain picked them up
Entered my soul
Fed me torture, despair.
I turned from the light
On this day
I wouldn't be played the fool again.
I would don a mask of hate
For my soul to be toyed with so cruelly
Evil must be my true mate.
It never discarded my heart, my soul
Never starved me
Fed me the pain, that kept me going.
Never asked me to be anything but what I am
To me this is real love
Accepted as one is.
The keys to my heart
Once so carelessly discarded
Are now cherished, kept and ever so guarded.
Thrown in the abyss
Left discarded.
Pain picked them up
Entered my soul
Fed me torture, despair.
I turned from the light
On this day
I wouldn't be played the fool again.
I would don a mask of hate
For my soul to be toyed with so cruelly
Evil must be my true mate.
It never discarded my heart, my soul
Never starved me
Fed me the pain, that kept me going.
Never asked me to be anything but what I am
To me this is real love
Accepted as one is.
The keys to my heart
Once so carelessly discarded
Are now cherished, kept and ever so guarded.
