Ice Age
Memory’s of summers now long gone.
Now ice ages dawn.
Civilisation swept aside.
Nowhere to hide.
A frozen world.
A long winter unfurled.
Stars bright and clear.
A world without cheer.
The ice sparkling in the everlasting night.
No more birds in flight.
Wind howling.
Wolves prowling.
Bands of hunters try to survive.
Onwards they drive.
Furs worn against the cold.
Groups in a common fold.
Civilisations get their prize.
Nothing ever really dies.
Civilisations fall
And leave a scrawl.
Summer will return.
So we will learn.
Seasons will change.
And it will seem strange.
Life will go on.
Maybe not with the grace of a swan.
History repeats.
Its heart still beats.
Now ice ages dawn.
Civilisation swept aside.
Nowhere to hide.
A frozen world.
A long winter unfurled.
Stars bright and clear.
A world without cheer.
The ice sparkling in the everlasting night.
No more birds in flight.
Wind howling.
Wolves prowling.
Bands of hunters try to survive.
Onwards they drive.
Furs worn against the cold.
Groups in a common fold.
Civilisations get their prize.
Nothing ever really dies.
Civilisations fall
And leave a scrawl.
Summer will return.
So we will learn.
Seasons will change.
And it will seem strange.
Life will go on.
Maybe not with the grace of a swan.
History repeats.
Its heart still beats.
