Cheesy Football Song
This is why we play!
It’s what I heard him dreaming
Trying to catch the glimpse
Of all the sunshine in his eyes
And I was hanging on the words
With no correction
Stopping at the rest stops
With all the grumbles on my mind
Traveling on the road of least resistance
Open for all the doldrums,
Mounting songs within so blind
To catch the football in my life
This is my son Wayne
The first connection in my life
Watching him at chance to catch the football
The play that happened to be
Not so long ago was right
With his knees locked in resistance
With all the joy that’s in disguise
Giving the Ravens glory,
Laughing in ways - that made Peyton cry.
Dancing across the TV
In the stance that ends the night
To catch the football in my life.
It’s what I heard him dreaming
Trying to catch the glimpse
Of all the sunshine in his eyes
And I was hanging on the words
With no correction
Stopping at the rest stops
With all the grumbles on my mind
Traveling on the road of least resistance
Open for all the doldrums,
Mounting songs within so blind
To catch the football in my life
This is my son Wayne
The first connection in my life
Watching him at chance to catch the football
The play that happened to be
Not so long ago was right
With his knees locked in resistance
With all the joy that’s in disguise
Giving the Ravens glory,
Laughing in ways - that made Peyton cry.
Dancing across the TV
In the stance that ends the night
To catch the football in my life.
