White Powder

I thought I deceived the deceiver
I was the one that got deceived
Lover where I’ve been and what I’m becoming you would not believe
You wonder where the money has gone and why it is I can’t breathe
I come up with all kinds of cover-ups so you’ll lend me another couple of bucks
So I can feel , a quick release
Never imagined I’d be living a double life and hiding it from you
You used to be my confidant but babe, if I confide this, then we’re through
That you’re girls addicted to a white rock in a long clear pipe
She smokes it in and breathes it out after kicking you out at night
Daytimes pass by her as she sits in a rehab recovery group
Crying and dying within ‘cause it’s conditional recovery and only she knows the truth
Your babies fallen in love with a euphoria only an illegal, sub-stance, can produce
She’s collapsing outside and her lungs are failing within
The Ten Commandments are taped to the door of her accomplice
While they both sit in sin

White powder, white pleasure, a rock smoked and loved
White as snow on the ground
White as the clouds up above
But switch it around first she’s high in the sky like those clouds
Then she comes crashing, right into the ground
White powder, white pleasure, a rock small and light
Lit up and breathed in until she’s losing the fight

The pleasure she feels lasts just a few minutes
She’s broken, then open for the next hit, but already she’s too far within it
Her mind says no, her heart beats quick, next thing you know she’s on the next fix
Thoughts of you come sweeping in
Thoughts of losing you but she has to fight harder to win
It’s a battle against a craving that goes deeper than earth
Deeper and deeper down she’s dragged & clutched in its curse

White powder, white pleasure a rock the size of a crumb
It causes her sleepless nights and nausea, but then again
The next hit makes her numb
Until she sees you and imagines your reaction if she was able to tell
That she’s fallen, failing, and fading fast still
White powder, white pleasure, in a rock aimed to please
It  does its job until she’s praying to it like the lord, down on her knees
White powder, white pleasure stalks her in her dreams
Only then it’s a nightmare that rips her apart at the seams

She asks herself if there could be anything past the power
Of a rock that melts in her  newly owned pipe, ‘til it vaporizes into a powder
Every minute, every second and all through the hours
She longs for it and she’d die just to get it
The money has gone, her vanity vanished
White powders a seductress no man could manage
Would you come to lay flowers on her grave if you knew?
Would there come a time when you’d give her a-nother, chance or two?
She holds it all in for the fear of not wanting to know
She throws it all down the pipe, smokes it, lit up
A white substance whose name she as yet doesn’t know
White powder, white rock, white in a pipe
Stack it up show it to her she’ll light up the night
Burnt cracked lips and the face of an addict
She’ll never give it up until she’s finally had it
So here we are and let me ask you again
If she told you the truth would it be the end?
