Dearly Departed
I write this note in fine red pen,
Hoping to reach a pleasant end
I know you're dead,
But still I bear
I write this small note letter spare
We had our laughs,
We had our sighs
Your mother sang great lullabies
But still I ask,
Why must you leave?
You jumped right off the roof's short eave
And to our children,
I must contend
Your father met a happy end
It was unpleasant,
That is sure,
His body made a grand endure
Though it is to say,
To this very day
That you died with a grateful heart
It is a relief
To know so well,
Our hope it surely swells
With the knowledge of who'll you'll see
And who'll you'll meet when you leave this humble earth
We pray each night dearly departed,
That God will watch over us with the love he watched o'er you
And with each passing day
I hope to say
My sorrow has reached it's end
For on that day
I'll surely say
To God, thou's amen
Hoping to reach a pleasant end
I know you're dead,
But still I bear
I write this small note letter spare
We had our laughs,
We had our sighs
Your mother sang great lullabies
But still I ask,
Why must you leave?
You jumped right off the roof's short eave
And to our children,
I must contend
Your father met a happy end
It was unpleasant,
That is sure,
His body made a grand endure
Though it is to say,
To this very day
That you died with a grateful heart
It is a relief
To know so well,
Our hope it surely swells
With the knowledge of who'll you'll see
And who'll you'll meet when you leave this humble earth
We pray each night dearly departed,
That God will watch over us with the love he watched o'er you
And with each passing day
I hope to say
My sorrow has reached it's end
For on that day
I'll surely say
To God, thou's amen
