Stars
And in that moment
We were so very
Distant
As if we saw but did not comprehend
Feeling nothing more than a brush of an emotion
Slightly lingering from excess electricity
But we wait until it blends into the skin
Ever thickened by lack of words
Syllables to stop the inevitable
And now we've forgotten how to speak
As if our sympathetic energy is conducive to setting fire
We fear there are too many trees
Too much debris
And the flame's supply will be never ending
We fear the unstoppable
Just as easily as it fills up a moment
Packaged into a train of thought and
Sold to swallow
Dosage for the right standard of living
We are living in cardboard boxes
Soggy from frostbite that thawed
Scared of March sunrises
We are terrified of those moments added up
The summation equivalent to what is always on our minds:
Time
Dwindling or overabundant
But slowly erasing
We are not infinite
And in that realization we-
like the stars-
Spread oceans apart
I am left only slightly comforted by the sight of you
But your warmth is only enough to sustain yourself
A silent observer who's heart lies a galaxy away
If you were to whisper
I would never be able to hear
The sky lies silent
There's nothing to say
And in those moments
We are so very
Distant
We were so very
Distant
As if we saw but did not comprehend
Feeling nothing more than a brush of an emotion
Slightly lingering from excess electricity
But we wait until it blends into the skin
