If
If I could muster up the courage I would hate you.
I would tell it to the world- I don't want you.
Now if I could convince myself to believe that it was true-
* I would be more powerful than any man.
If I could smile despite the feeling of an undertow-
I would be blessed with a talent - that is unknown.
If I could put into words what lies inside-
the crumpled walls of a hurt mind-
You have no idea what it feels like-
But why would you - I'm not your life.
If I possessed the knowledge that would change me-
I would turn into a bird and go fly free-
I wouldn't hurt a soul or ask for anything-
Life might feel alive and worth saving.
If I could change my heart I would remove it-
I would give it to a child that could use it-
I would warn them that this heart was just a spare tire-
and to replace what's left inside before it's expired.
I would tell it to the world- I don't want you.
Now if I could convince myself to believe that it was true-
* I would be more powerful than any man.
If I could smile despite the feeling of an undertow-
I would be blessed with a talent - that is unknown.
If I could put into words what lies inside-
