Adam & Eve

I watch the serpent
plant cellular devices into the
soil, God's green earth

I watch as
corporate buildings grow
from these electronic seeds
and pierce the polluted sky

I watch as these pointless towers
consume the sunlight
and suffocate the vegetation
which once grew
in The Garden of Eden

Then I watch Eve
masturbate to pornography
leaving her drained
helpless and easy

In her eyes I see nothing
but the best selling products
and her doctor's signature
on a joyous prescription

I search for Adam, a once
stand up guy. hard working
and of code

But I find him drunk,
stupid and drugged
collecting unemployment

I watch in awkward horror
as he rocks out to 80's
hair metal

In his midlife crisis he places
his calloused hand and says:
"My boy! This is the fucking
American Dream!"

Now
that the earth
is raped, that Eve is
lost in material pleasures
and Adam has
given up

I close my bible
and paint a wall just
to watch it dry, light a
cigarette and wait
for the world to end
