The Nymph

I found the grotto in the wood
the source from which I drank
the sun was in a rage
fought away the clouds,
I should have rested long ago
rested on the mossy bank,
but I was young and knowing better
than to waste my time with sleeping.
But I was wrong..............
the road was long and I was tired
a rest could do no harm,
the nymph held out her hand
drew me to her parlour
let me stay the day ‘til dusk,
then sent me on my way.
