Restless
I can no longer
Lie in this bed
Next to you,
Pretending to love you
When I instead want
So desperately to be free.
The love, promises, and future
You had to offer
Have run dry and stagnate,
But you refuse to let me go
Even though it hurts us more
To pretend everything is fine.
I no longer believe
That you love me
Though you keep saying it,
Because you would
Care about my happiness
If you truly did.
I only stay because
I have nowhere else
To really go instead,
I turn over on my side
And scoot away from you
So I can think about my future.
I'm getting closer and closer
To my breaking point
With each passing day,
And I can't go on
With living this lie
Just to make you happy.
Lie in this bed
Next to you,
Pretending to love you
When I instead want
So desperately to be free.
The love, promises, and future
You had to offer
Have run dry and stagnate,
But you refuse to let me go
Even though it hurts us more
To pretend everything is fine.
I no longer believe
That you love me
Though you keep saying it,
Because you would
Care about my happiness
If you truly did.
I only stay because
I have nowhere else
To really go instead,
I turn over on my side
And scoot away from you
So I can think about my future.
I'm getting closer and closer
To my breaking point
With each passing day,
And I can't go on
With living this lie
Just to make you happy.
