Ignorance isn't so blissful
Ignorance isn't blissful
To the guy I overheard in class say "there is no such thing as discrimination"
How can this be a belief you live with
How can you think these thoughts without confusing your brain
If THIS is indeed your belief
Tell that to Sean Bell whose body was used as target practice 50 police bullets
Tell that to Rodney King whose face was engraved into the fist of 4 officers and teeth kicked out as if they were evicted from his mouth
Tell that Trayvon Martin who was patrolled for wearing the very skin that god put him in
Tell that to the millions of black mothers and fathers who tears fail to drown out the voices of the undeserved and innocence
Tell that to my grandma! Who watched your ancestors use water hoses like sniper rifles and her friends be used for k9 chew toys
Tell me! Tell me! Who taught you this
You probably learned it from the people who create laws in Arizona
Your thought process doubtlessly falls from the same tree that hung the nooses of slave-owners
I hope you choke on your words so you can throw up your stupidity
I dream that one day your ignorance will send you to the hospital, so they can find your common sense
It's like you've been playing a never ending game of hide and seek with your intelligence and you need to stop winning
I believe this isn't your belief, so I ask you to find your own voice
Because if there is no such thing discrimination, then i guess being slaves was a personal choice
That women get paid less then men because we work harder
And that Muslims are the only ones able to win those free pat downs at airports
Your white privilege may have blinded you from the reality of life
But your ignorance will fail to open your eyes to the hate that this nation was built on.
