REALITY CHECK

Some say if you ain’t talking about money then you ain’t making sense
I can’t lie, all men like the good life’ I must admit it with no pretence
Our world today is decayed in all facets taking my views with a conscious lens
I wonder why we act as if nothing dey happen’’ ain’t we pricked by our conscience
Seeing things that were alien to us to been indoctrinated to gullible souls
Most Beautiful girls are willing to expose their bodies as music video hoes
While most young fellas take pride to chant slogans of balling outta control
Glorifying pimping, drug abuse, violence on women all in the name of show biz
It’s disheartening to see how many youths have been manipulated with that ease
Believing everything they see as portrayed by their role models on the screens
Got many people around placing more value & love on their cars and jewelleries
Worshipping material things neglecting the love of humanity & immediate families
Homes are broken on a daily basis, kids are vulnerable to abuses, that’s the reality
If your favourite superstar, keeps flossing about how much wealth they got & property
Have you ever thought of what they care about and how they’ve helped reduced poverty
See the truth is most of them don’t really care even when you made them become stars
They embrace celebrity status and look down on fans; you’re no longer with them at par
I ain’t hating on anybody, but the truth is how does their lifestyles impact positively on you
Turn off your radio, listen to the voice of truth inside your heart & soul; believe me is true
We’re all in need of pleasures It’s cool I know to have fun and dance to your favourite song
But telling you to drop your pants down low then you should know something is wrong
If you’ve got kids emulating what they see, how do you feel hearing them recite those nasty rhymes
Music is food to the soul, a powerful tool to impact knowledge and nutrients to enrich the mind
Creativity shouldn’t be exploited in the name of searching for glory to destroy noble mankind
Let’s be rationale take some good time to think and ponder I’m not condemning the industry
For the sake of posterity I’m imperfect but asking, where’s our conscience & human decency
The mainstream is flooded & controlled by lies & fallacy if it ain’t about sex it’s about pills ecstasy
Young kids are fascinated by what they see, easily lured into illicit hustles chasing a life of fantasy
Going to school, pursuing a college degree to succeed ain’t necessary coz money making is primary
They make it look so nice; you fall a prey coz you’re dumb and blinded by the love of money & ice
You follow blindly without knowing for the fame & fortune there are some hidden sacrifice & price
How come most of these celebrities are more like tools used for propagating all sorts of evil vice
Why don’t we ever hear artistes talk about the ills in our society and how to make things right
We all know our government has failed us, politician’s loot our treasury like it’s their birthright
If we ain’t thinking about a change then we must be comfortable with all this endless strife
Baba Fela has said it before, suffering & smiling is what most have embraced as everyday life
Our youths are less concerned about how they’re governed coz of the distractions around
How can the revolution be achieved; if you’re ignorant of your rights & your mind ain’t sound
A word they say is enough for the wise, things ain’t always what they seem; open your eyes
Wake up, it’s a reality check with a revolutionary mind say no to all the mainstream lies.
