Crashing In On Me
the nerve shattering silence
of a darkened room
screams echoed through my head
sleep did not come easy
as I wallowed in my grief
my mind was alive
with thoughts of death
a snapshot that I have never seen
pictures of closed eyes
and crossed hands
thoughtless teardrops
stain my pillow
and leave a salty trail
on my cheeks
crusts of pain adorn my skin
as a weary reminder
I felt the heavy rhythm of my
heartbeat in my chest
a stinging pain as accompaniment
the concerto of operatic pain
played on throughout night
heavy with dread
my eyes weighed down
closing tightly around my thoughts
my mind shifted to a state of rest
as I finally drifted off
within my dream
moving pictures from the past
played out in glorious visions
memories of life
and times of happiness
across my lips
a smile must have adorned my face
as I slept with the dream
dancing in my head
my thoughts far away
from the reality
that I faced before my slumber
with a snap the dream was gone
as I rubbed the crust from eyes
snapshots
and moving pictures
resonating within my mind
and for a brief moment
the world seemed at ease
then my reality
came crashing in on me
of a darkened room
screams echoed through my head
sleep did not come easy
as I wallowed in my grief
my mind was alive
with thoughts of death
a snapshot that I have never seen
pictures of closed eyes
and crossed hands
thoughtless teardrops
stain my pillow
and leave a salty trail
on my cheeks
crusts of pain adorn my skin
as a weary reminder
I felt the heavy rhythm of my
heartbeat in my chest
a stinging pain as accompaniment
the concerto of operatic pain
played on throughout night
heavy with dread
my eyes weighed down
closing tightly around my thoughts
my mind shifted to a state of rest
as I finally drifted off
within my dream
moving pictures from the past
played out in glorious visions
memories of life
and times of happiness
across my lips
a smile must have adorned my face
as I slept with the dream
dancing in my head
my thoughts far away
from the reality
that I faced before my slumber
with a snap the dream was gone
as I rubbed the crust from eyes
snapshots
and moving pictures
resonating within my mind
and for a brief moment

then my reality
came crashing in on me
