My eyes
They wander
They seek
Excitement
Tragedy
And bliss
They know no limitations
So when that person steps out of line
Instead of shying away
And accepting it
These curious large blue eyes push forward
They question
They seek answers
They don't believe in limitations
They wonder why not all questions have answers
They search for the best of people
Because even my eyes know
That people can hide
Not only from themselves
But from everyone
It's a constant game of hide and seek
And it's only when you show the person
How compassionate,
Kind
Loving
And how brave they are
That they have the capacity to be these things
The game of hide and seek is over
They can be reluctant at first
They can spend their whole life
Believing that they are merely a branch
Or a leaf
And my eyes show them
They are the whole tree
They might believe that they are a worn out sock
Filled with holes
Flaws
And stains that refuse to come out
But I will show them the beauty in it
I will show them
That if they do not fit the mould
If they believe they aren't worthy of being on the cover
Of a magazine that sets the standards of beauty through the roof
Who cares
My eyes will show you that you are are walking
Breathing
Living proof
That the idea of beauty
And all the baggage that word holds according to those magazines
Is overrated
Let the world see your definition of beauty
In the way you treat yourself
In the way to act
In the person you are
My eyes will show them that
They are important
They are worthy
They are here for a reason
When they believe they aren't loved
I will love every part of them
Because my eyes see everything
From their forehead
That crinkles with uncertainty
To their lips
Which have spit out words that are immediately regretted
To their stomach
That has been judged and commented on endlessly
I will show them that the struggles people go through
Do not shape a person
The way they deal with their struggles
The way they treat themselves and others
Shapes your being
And that
Is beautiful.
