Image for the poem Who says What

Who says What

The whispers of greatness
from a nimbus of clouds
achievements
heights
money
means nothing now
when your breath comes in gasps

the road you travelled was good
from the land of the old
to the country of the young
worked
scrapped
saved
a big 10-roomed house

you  zoomed around in fast cars
luxurious, you feel opulent
always shiny
and new
you dine at the Ritz
Or thought you did
Meaningless, with hovering scytheman

They at your bedside
looking on glittery eyes, greedily
hoping to palm and grasped
what you will leave behind
not knowing
you will trade it all
for just a few more healthy days

who do you speak to
what will you say
about all that you did
and all that you still want to do.
