The Might

So you think you have me
cornered within your mind
I am at the end of my tethers
I am running to the ground
cold and wet and desperate

You are wrong
The evanescent path
That you willfully walk on
Will break up under you
You will have nothing to hold on

You will only be able to recall
A vague familiarity
In all the sacrifices
of life wasted, love given away
but you will never have it back

you drained sap of a budding ardor
through your actions
you spoke of reasons
to do what you did
but what, I do not understand

so was it worth it
the seven days of mending
fences rotted long ago
did your heart skip again
or did it plummet to the bottom

You had a choice
You made it
The tide recedes
But it always returns
No tide has this heart.
