Do we laugh or cry

Thanks guys.
Laughter is the most common reaction I'm getting to this.
We shouldn't laugh, because on the face of things, it isn't funny - whatever voice we choose for reading this in our heads.
So is the laughter just a nervous reaction to the unfamiliar, or something more - perhaps the subtle power of words acting out a misdirectional role.
A bit like a Punch & Judy panto - do we laugh or cry - or both. Intriguing stuff, isn't it.

contrary to the others reaction, this actually kind of creeps me out... its like looking into your own deepest, darkest, sickest part-- only to find out that it actually stares back at you, taunting, haunting...

i got all solemn too. i envisioned more of an assassin making 'quick' work of someone he happened to dislike as well, but that could have something to do with having been exposed to too many violent video games.

So it seems the boys are laughing and the gals are cringing

Curious how the power of words has a different affect on people. This was going to be a full poem about bullying when it started, but then something else demanded my attention. When I returned to it, I realised how strange these five lines are. Just why they produce such strong opposing reactions in people is a mystery I can't quite put my finger on.
Intriguing isn't it?
