Empty Closets

There’s no hope now, for us
You said you’re done, this time for good
Your voice, ”I don’t want to be with you,
Go away” playing on constant repeat
No words can stop you from leaving
From leaving me, so I won’t speak
Instead I’ll watch you pack, that
Closet has never looked so empty
It doesn’t feel right, we’re making a mistake
This can’t be real, I’ve still got so many tries
Left in me, I’m still willing to keep
Working at this, at us – I’m not ready
I can’t call it quits just yet, ever — I still love you
Probably too much, don’t say you’ve fallen out
Can’t handle this, tell me you’re still —
Head over heels, just take it all back and
Hang your clothes back in the closet
Baby, don’t leave me.. don’t give up
Not when we could still be happy
Stay with me.. tell me you didn’t mean
Anything you’ve said, say you’re staying
And climb back into our bed, tell me this
Isn’t over — tell me we won’t give up yet
Tell me our love’s still boundless and
You haven’t run out of second chances,
Tell me you’ve got at least one left —
Maybe one more chance is all we’ll need,
This can’t be it — this can’t be it.
This can’t be,
       It;
Left me with a broken heart and
Too many empty closets.
