Sailing through a river of mist
Sailing through a river of mist,
I am unaware of the end.
I am at the river’s mercy
For she will bid me no favors.
I cast anchor to stop the boat
To no avail nor benefit.
I am helpless against the waves,
They present me with fear and grief
Eternal as the current heaves.
Even the seagulls seem astute
Yet they are my sole company.
The lone joy of being forlorn
Is to notice the night’s trite stars
And that the wistful one is I.
I am unaware of the end.
I am at the river’s mercy
For she will bid me no favors.
I cast anchor to stop the boat
To no avail nor benefit.
I am helpless against the waves,
They present me with fear and grief
Eternal as the current heaves.
Even the seagulls seem astute
Yet they are my sole company.
The lone joy of being forlorn
Is to notice the night’s trite stars
And that the wistful one is I.
