wanted the bulging belly
kicked-up feet
and early bedtime

bought a six pack
of dark pale ales
and wrote love notes
to the television

cracked the first
stepped outside
and rolled a cigarette

It's chilly out
but still nice
autumn's a jolly drunk
this year

got the music going
might as well enjoy the smoke

The rub-a-dub
is sounding right
as the rain reveals
that the sky's greys
weren't bluffing

second beer disappears
and the third
opens itself
before rolling another

go back in
grab a stick of Nag Champa
and the cigar box
that is just for adults

Writing in this state
is as fine a line
as thin can get
