PENCIL v PEN
PENCIL v PEN
I've got my scriber's ready, on the table side by side
Between them lies my ruler, and I use it as a guide
With paper at the ready, I start to make my mark
The lines that soon appear are looking, thick and very dark
It’s rushing that is causing me, to find this task a pain
I think that there’s an error, I’ll erase and start again
This last attempt should do it, just push, and follow through
Oh no! The lead has broken, and it’s ripped the paper too
Another piece of paper and this time, I’ll use the pen
The lines will be consistent and, no need to start again
The ruler in position, it is placed from side to side
My pen is resting at the edge, with eagerness to slide
A lovely start appearing, the line is thin and blue
My pen is working splendid; it will make a lovely view
The line is at the halfway point, it’s looking really good
This pen is proving all its worth, just like I knew it would
An inch or two and that’s my line, or should I say my lot
Oh shit! Oh no! I can’t believe, my pen has dropped a blot
No blotting paper here at hand, or tissue just to press
What started out in pristine state, is now a horrid mess
